In Season 3 Episode 19 and 20 Crossroads 1 & 2, Colonel Tigh tunes in erie music on an old radio found in Joe’s Bar aboard Galactica. What he doesn’t realize is that the song he hears is all in his head.
The red radio that Tigh messes with at Joe’s Bar is a TEAC Nostalgia SL-A100 AM/FM radio with turntable.
TEAC Corporation is an electronics company based in Japan. TEAC was founded in 1956 as the Tokyo Electro Acoustic Company. TEAC is known for its audio equipment, and was a primary manufacturer of high-end audio equipment in the 1980s. During that time, TEAC produced notable tape decks, cd players, turntables and amplifiers.
The Set-Dec Department faux aged the radio with Minwax® Paste Finishing Wax. A combination of wax colors — natural and special dark — were applied to the radio with a terrycloth rag to give the radio an old, used, beat-up look.
The song Tigh hears in his head is “All Along the Watchtower” as written by singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. The song first appeared on Dylan’s 1967 album John Wesley Harding.
