Official Colour Chips

The paint colours used on the Galactica sets are the basis of all of the colours used through out the props and sets from the series. According to the original colour chips used by set-dec a majority of the paints were formulated from Benjamin Moore latex paints. The following image is from the colour chip box label for the Pilot MiniSeries.

The following “quick reference” color chips were created by the paint department for the Battlestar Galactica Pilot MiniSeries in 2003. Many of the chips were hand painted on 1/4 inch hardboard chips. This is only a small sampling of the color chips used on the production.

Color Matching Warning

It is highly recommended to use the exact Benjamin Moore color codes listed here if you wish to get a pint or two of the BSG colors mixed. DO NOT rely on your monitor for color matching as different manufacturers, operating systems, software versions, monitor positions, monitor settings and surrounding glare will yield inaccurate results.

Galactica Walls

This colour is also used on all of the CIC phones aboard Galactica.
(Note: Although the paint department labeled the colour “Dark Ballgown” in 2003, this particular paint name is no longer used by Benjamin Moore and is now called “witching hour”.)

The iridescent qualities of the fine metal flake gives the paint a color shift quality which makes it very difficult to color match from photos. Depending what angle you are viewing the paint it can appear silver or even dark gray. This is color chip without the metallic clear coat.
